Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce held its July luncheon at the Arbutus Hotel on Wednesday, 15th July, bringing members together for an afternoon of networking while celebrating the hotel's remarkable centenary. Marking 100 years of continuous family ownership, guests heard the story of the Buckley family's enduring legacy, with many of the hotel's original Celtic Deco furnishings from 1926 still proudly in place today. Mayor of Killarney, Cllr John O'Donoghue, also addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Chamber, Kerry County Council and the local business community, and recognising the value of Chamber networking events in supporting Killarney's continued growth and success.

Our June Business Luncheon at the Gleneagle Hotel featured former European Commission Director Marie Donnelly, who delivered an engaging talk on "Energy Efficiency and the Road to a Sustainable Future." Marie highlighted Ireland's energy challenges and the opportunities presented by renewable resources, encouraging local businesses to avail of SEAI grants and supporting her vision for Killarney to become Ireland's first "lighthouse town" for sustainability.

He highlighted the importance of building Killarney as a unified “superbrand”, where businesses work together towards a shared vision, common values and high standards that enhance the town’s overall appeal. Emphasising the strong energy and potential within Killarney, Mr Shanahan noted that a clear strategic roadmap and collective approach would help ensure sustainable growth, strengthen competitiveness and create benefits for the entire business community.
